Sara has danced at Denise Lester Dance Academy since the young age of 3, it was here that Sara discovered her true passion and love for dance and performing. In that time she trained in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, acro, hip hop, contemporary, modern and musical theater. Sara has completed all of her dance exams with the B.A.T.D and was starred for the ballet scholarship for 4 years in a row. She has also received her associate certification in ballet, stage, modern and acro with the B.A.T.D. As a competitive dancer with the Denise Lester Dance Academy Sara has competed across North America winning various trophies and awards with the rest of the competitive team. As a soloist, she had the honor of winning: the title Sr. Superstar Soloist, recipient of the Director’s Choice Award, and received the highest mark within multiple competitions for several years. Sara has received special recognition for stage presence, technique, and emotional execution; and received several competitions awards for being an inspiration. She has been awarded: the ‘Be Discovered Broadway Bound’ Scholarship, the ‘Be Discovered Summer in LA’ Scholarship and the ‘5678 NYC Summer intensive’ Scholarship.
Brandi started as a student with Denise at 3 years old and now at 20 is the youngest member of the Denise Lester teaching staff. Last year Brandi’s choreography consistently won first place and, highest senior group of the competition twice. Since dance is a visual art a student will always dance with the same style as her teacher. Anyone who has seen Brandi dance would love to look just like her on stage. She has a beautiful breadth of motion, her extension is awe inspiring and her style so smooth. Brandi’s own competitive years found her to be unbeatable. She won high scoring solo and highest mark of the competition both as an amateur and as a professional, many times choreographing her own routines. She has been awarded “Miss Star Catcher”, Outstanding Technique award, Best Emotional Execution, Adjudicators choice awards even Prom Queen and Miss Congeniality at her school prom. Brandi has performed for Fashion shows, numerous industrials and soloist for the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation. Brandi is a third year dance major at York University and is a qualified BATD teacher in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Acro. “I love the opportunities that dance has given to me. It has allowed me to work at something that I truly love to do.” Brandi says, “Helping our students achieve a goal is very rewarding”.
